The following are the rules and guidelines for use of the Tomes of Sosaria Forums.  While obviously there will be some leniency involved in the enforcement of these rules, we ask that people try to adhere to them as best as possible.  At the end of the day, someone who continually shows blatant disregard for the community communicating within, and attempts by board moderators to advise on how to post within acceptable ranges, will have their posting rights removed.  We will not ban lightly, nor for unjust reasons, nor without fair warning, but it needs to be clear that disruptive influences will not be tolerated.  That said, please take a moment to view these simple rules.

Please be courteous and use appropriate manners.  In-character argument and insult that is obviously serving to further plot is acceptable, however, out-of-character posts that serve no other purpose to demean or belittle another community member are unacceptable.  Additionally, posts that are of a threatening (ie: "I'm going to come to your house and kick your ass!"), or harmful (ie: "I know who all of your characters are, and I'm going to blackmail you to keep your mouth shut!") nature will not be tolerated.

Personal phone numbers and addresses will not be posted publicly.  To protect people from unwanted attention by those who they may not wish personal information revealed to, we ask that you please refrain from publicly posting your address and phone number, or the addresses and phone numbers of others.  If you wish to pass this through the Personal Message system, via email, through ICQ, IRC, or other means that is fine, but understand we take no responsibility for who you share this information with.

Posting information about hacks and wares will not be tolerated.  Please be aware that while we don't care what third party programs you use, any third party program that is a hack or cheat, or providing information to warez or other illegal copies of programs will not be allowed on these boards, and such posts will be deleted without question or warning.

Please use [OOC] and [IC] tags when appropriate.  This message board is equipped with [OOC] and [IC] tags that allow you to format your text in a manner to make OOC and IC posting obvious.  By using these tags regularly, it will promote keeping in-character and out-of-character text separate.

This forum and "First Amendment Rights."  It is important to note that this forum is not a government agency, is not controlled or regulated by the federal government, and as such, we are not bound by the First Amendment.  Don't use this as an argument against the deletion of a post or the locking of a thread.  Just like going over to your neighbor's house, or to a fancy restaurant, you are free to say whatever you want to say.  However, you should realize that should you choose to speak in an inflammatory or belligerent manner, that there will be consequences to your actions.  Here, that means your posts may be deleted or your posting rights revoked.

This board aims to serve the community in a positive manner.  We will be fair as to what people post, but we ask that if you want to joke with people to use the off-topic forums or start a new thread.  We ask that you please keep threads on topic, and constructive.  We want to see this board function as a community tool that fosters good relations between groups, is an extension of roleplay when it is impossible to meet in-game, and that, overall, is a tool that people can enjoy using.  Please do your part to foster this.
